I am a product manager with 5+ years of total experience (2+ in Product) with an Indian MBA. I got PR from Canada and planning to move to Canada soon. I am currently working in a well known IT Financial company based out of US.

I am unsure of Product management function in other companies in Canada and what salary I can expect?
Any suggestions for me how I can make this career move?What are the firms I need to look for? How do I understand the culture for PMs before I apply ?

Is joining a startup as the second lawyer under a head of legal (rather than a GC) a risky career move? Currently a mid-level at a biglaw firm and have been told my long term prospects are very good if I stick around. The startup seems like a good opportunity, but worried a GC being hired in above the head of legal would make my position much less favorable.

TC would also be lower at the startup, though the company is well funded and seems likely to have an exit of some kind.

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

Riffing off a part in another bowl - if you could design a new economic system to replace capitalism, what would you change.

Clearly government control is not the way to go, but there are also clearly some major problems with a system that requires endless growth and prioritizes capital accumulation as an end in itself.

There has to be a better way to incentivize individual excellence while harnessing it towards more socially beneficial goals.

Random Tangent: After year end results were delivered, staff received meager 3.8% adjustments, which is far from the news reports of 7.9% USA inflation. POV: 2 and s half months into a new job: position internal sales support. Request of SM to find all potential customers in 2 main areas of sales and send them the information of companies name as well as contact name and sort the info from most important company to least, all from scratch.
The SM knows I am new to the industry and have no previous experience in it.
Is this something normal to ask to have done? Is it normal to give a few days to hand in the requested information?

I’m thinking in taking AWS and Azure courses to beef up my CV, as I’m looking to break into a sales role in tech. I’ve had mixed feedback from recruiters saying it would be beneficial and others saying it won’t help because my background and skill sets lie with sales and people. Any thoughts on this? If it helps, I’ve been working as a senior negotiator in prime residential real estate (London, UK) for 3 years. I also have 5 years experience running my own business in the coffee industry.

Looking for some advise on making a career move. I've been in software and telecom sales most of my career, starting at a telco (14 yrs) and then a small independent consulting company (4 yrs). Focus as been in cybersecurity and workplace/IT Modernization (Collaboration Platforms, SD-WAN, etc).
