Hi I made an industry move (Higher Ed) as well not from same field. One thing that would/might be helpful is to know how your org positions and approaches engagements.
Some orgs have their own style, others attempt to copy MBB firms and drill the Pyramid Principle down your throat.
I would recommend a few books on general consulting that are helpful.
Convinced by Jack Nasher is about how to prove your competence which is key as a consultant.
McKinsey Mind or Pyramid Principle by Barbara Minto can be helpful. But you can also watch a quality YouTube video and get the essence
The number one skill that I lacked is PowerPoint for a consultant. I would 100% spend time getting your technical skill set up because it will save you so much time.
Also be prepared to work, a lot.
