Hi Fishbowl, could I please get some suggestion here. I have a recruiter reached out to me for a job with a 20k+hike from my current salary. The thing is I haven’t heard of this company. From all the information available online I am not really sure if the company has much potential and the market they are in has a lot of competition. They have started out in 2013 and recently opened an office in Toronto. Their HQ is in the Netherlands. Should I reach out and explain my concerns to the HR?

Go with your gut feeling OP! Ask the recruiter for details and try to look for past few revenue records but if you are not content and something looks dicey… go with your gut feel!

Honestly if it’s not a $50k jump at the minimum I don’t bother.

Thank you all going to do some more research. 🙏

Edit 2: I have a stable job right now, but the culture is toxic and I want to leave. Am interesting startup wants to hire me and they seem to be doing well. Not sure if I should just endure or make the switch. It would potentially be a 20% increase with your startup and a title bump

Recruiters: if a candidate said something along the lines of “I’m obsessed with this opportunity” (not verbatim but it was that energy) how would you interpret that?
I don’t feel it came off desperate like I need to get this job, but rather in a “I’m really excited about this company and role” kind of way.

Edit: they’re also aware I’m in final round interview for another position, and meets all job requirements if that adds to anything

I'm considering pivoting to copywriting because that's the part of my role I'm best at -- a lot of the account management stuff is draining, but I can whip out social and marketing copy quickly & I enjoy it. Wondering if anyone has insight / leads on making the jump from accounts to the copy side when applying for jobs? 5 YOE, 3 in-agency with a mix of automotive and pharma + a side gig as a published author with muliple books (hoping that'll help on the creative / copy end?) Thank you!

Been considering getting out of Big4 consulting for a while now. Recently started interviewing and got an offer out of the blue. Rank is somewhat similar, but pay is pretty much same as now, except for one time RSU quantity that vests over 3 years. The new role fits most boxes, but I'm on the fence about whether to jump just yet. Looking to crowdsource my decision based on inputs from others who've jumped recently v/s those who have stayed put temporarily.

Penny for your thoughts 🥺
