See it depends on your lifestyle. What ur expenses are now and what your expenses are likely to be 20 years down the line. You can search in Google, there are many retirement calculators available.
Once you know how much you need after 20 years, etc say 2lakhs per month, then you need to figure out how much you need by then. Let's say you expecting 10% interest, then to get monthly 2lakhs you need like 2.4cr corpus. So to get 2.4CR, prepare a plan. It may include mutual funds/shares, gold, real estate,NPS,PF etc.
You need to do bit of research yourself. Else take advice from an adviser. Would avoid these retirement plans and ELSS etc.
What do IT folks do after 45 years age ? If we retire by 45 also then we will need atleast 5cr to manage rest of our life.
Cheif I have not seen many people of that age in IT industry thats why mentioned 45. Or maybe IT started booming from 2000 onwards so 45+ people are rare now.
