A PE firm recruiting me for a role in their investment team but in a more of a “internal consulting role” i.e. working more on the value creation after an asset is acquired. What would be your take on that? Should I worry it’s a second class citizen role in the inv. team?

I want to break into mergers and acquisitions but was unable to attain summer analyst positions in undergrad. Currently, I have an offer for compliance examiner for futures and a tax position at a midsize public accounting firm. What route would you suggest I take? If investment banking is out of the picture, then I would love to break into consulting for one for the big 4 accounting firms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My immediate family, extended family, and my in laws all see me as some hero/strong leader. I don’t want to be one. I hate being the center of attention, because it gives me extreme anxiety. I ignore in the moment but eventually I always have a breakdown.

I feel so much pressure to continue to do well and make the right decisions even though the temptations of this world are getting stronger.

Is it worth waiting for other non-cycle processes at more traditional buy out shops or take what you can get? I’m not in a rush to leave my current job and up for promotion soon FWIW

I received an email today from recruiter asking for a phone interview which I’m so happy to hear from but I applied about a month ago. I moved on and applied internally for a different role as a transfer. This new role is a promotion and my start date is next week. I immediately responded back to the recruiter and agreed to the phone interview for tomorrow 5/4…. Do I mention any of the above to them? Do I tell them I just accepted a new role and different position? Please advise

I cleared two interview rounds for a Senior Consultant role, had a salary discussion with HR, then they shared a tentative salary structure and i have said ok to it over email. Then HR said next step will be me getting an offer letter 2 weeks later. Is it advisable to followup with them after 2 weeks or just let them do their thing slowly? I have seen posts here of them being very slow and not sharing the offer letter without followup.
