C role is 60% getting the work done by your team (so pure management skills and knowledge like when to support, when to hold hand, when to push back client, when to not push back clients, which task to assign to which teammates, deciding and managing timelines)
Here basically you have to on top of all the work going on in your team at a high level. You can be asked questions from

20% - Work on some workstream maybe, if required (getting hands dirty and working on real deliverables)

20%- Random work from PAM (Financials, Business development, helping in deck ideas, creating deck for PAMs leadership meeting with client leadership, povs on innovation and things, people management, team plan for next year, review and associates/ACs growth path discussion and team activity ideas, talking interviews of contractors

So the 60% is the part which can go anywhere. If you got a great team and A/ACs can manage and handle the work efficiently, your life becomes easier
If any situation not going well, then your life is in pain for that period of time.

Day to day basis:
5-6 hours of meeting (80%:20% Internal:Client mix)
4 hours of individual work on the things mentioned above

Be ready and mentally prepared to give up the luxury of wlb. And don't believe anyone saying it depends on the project. Cogni might seem like a heaven when you look back after 6 months

Agreed. AC here
9.5 hours of work

Previously 10.5 even 11 working hours

You’ll have to give up wlb but the monetary upsides C onwards is huge.
All things going well in 6 years time you would be earning close to a crore(and upwards rapidly) a year. If you feel you can earn in that range in 5-6 years by continuing in your current role/ switching to tech side in some other companies then don’t switch else switch to zs.

Associate Partner designation. Partners make well above a crore. With good performance you can make M in 2.5 years and again performance withstanding can make AP in 3 -4 years.
I’m a senior AC(1 level below C) and from what I’ve heard M to AP is the hardest transition. You should connect with someone who has done it to tell you how difficult it actually is.
I just gave you a brief monetary outline of progress.

Depends a lot on the project you are staffed to.

But, usually ZS is a high pressure workplace

There’s pressure but pressure turns coal into a diamond. I know I sound like a boomer but believe me I am not :)

I’m only doing it because I want to become partner someday and earn the big bucks , else work is crushing on all days, rarely get time to eat with family on weekdays

Join at your own risk and only if money matters and ready to put 14-15 hrs daily.

like

Do not join if you expect work life balance. You need to spend min. 12-13 hrs day and need to work on most of the weekends

Join only if offered CTC is significantly higher than CCTC.

It would obviously be yaar. The only reason most fall for and join .

Is all work work and work with no wlb. If you are not okay with that then better not to join. There would be many perks in terms of exposure, salary, fast growth etc but u will be giving all your time and life to take benefit of these perks.

There is a lot to do at all times, but ZS prepares you but you will feel overwhelmed at times too. Its basically a test everyday... Preparing you to be the best you can if you are into management and leadership aspirations. It will upset wlb and is nothing like WITCH so if you are prepared then only join ZS. It may get better with time but again wont be like WITCH ki 8 ghnta ho gya 9 ghnta ho gya bs sb. Cs even have meetings late at night even after 12 hour mark.

ZS will train you, will give you PD coach and all but you are the one who has to grow and do things. You would be lost in the beginning but will be glad when you look back after 6 months thinking where did you start and where you are.

ACs and Cs are more about managing and let getting hands dirty more to less respectively as per role.

I had about 6 years experience at big four auditing mostly PE and hedge funds, left as a manager and switched to industry, have been working at my current job in fund accounting (PE) a little over a year. If I want to switch my job an a year, what salaries range I am looking at? Is it very competitive to find a good paying senior level job? On a separate note, the main reason that I am considering a new job is wlb which still not that good. Do 9-5 jobs really exist at my level with a good pay?

Hi Fishes

I am earning decently here in India and have an offer for 30k in Abu Dhabi ( I got it through Linkdin😎).
Though all my formalities are done and i am set to go, i am having second thoughts about this move regarding how my life will be in a conservative country and will I be able to find people with a similar mindset. Has someone in the group faced something like this before an abroad move ?
Will really appreciate it if sm1 residing in UAE can let me know how life is like there.
