If given an offer with a large base but not a ton of equity (ex: $120k base and equivalent of $10k equity vested per year) at a tech company expected to IPO within a year, would it be wise to ask to exchange cash for equity? Ex: $110k base $20k equity? Put differently, are huge jumps in valuation typical for IPOs, and thus should I try and maximize that component if I’m more than happy with base?

HELP PLEASE!! How likely can a US comp bring on employee thru Canadian office? I'm Canadian and got a verbal offer for a US role (I'd move on TN visa). 2 days later, HR calls me and said after checking, immigration team has said TN is a no go, and will now see if can bring me on thru CAN office instead.
