Curious to hear collective thoughts on a salary increase for an employee. 2 years of experience and looking for a raise of almost 10K and has only been with the company for a year. On one had the employee has been instrumental in keeping business afloat during the pandemic and was awarded a 15% bonus at the end of last year. The other hand, it seems like it may be setting a precedent of having such large increases YoY. Thoughts?
Dear Guy who got into Chicago Booth and has a baby on the way, please please please don't turn down Chicago Booth to raise the baby!
Is 27 too old for senior consultant? I look around and most are manager by 28. This is a serious post. I’m happy with the promotion but looking around seems like most are younger.
I wanted to get your thoughts. Employer filed my PERM in 2019 as Audit Manager wc is approved by DOL last May 2021. HR said I will not promoted this year to Manager and was told that they plan to restart my GC as a Senior. I am just in shocked that they resorted to this plan instead of filing I-140 and just delay filing of AOS by next year for my promotion. Need your help and any talking points that I have to tell my employer esp for those who experienced the same thing. Thank you!
Hello Fishes, I have total 6years 7months of experience, full tenure in Infosys. I got my Technology Lead role change last week. My current package after my promotion stands 8.7 of which around 1.2 is variable. Recently I got an offer from TCS with 12.5 lpa. But the position they are offering is IT Analyst. Since I got my role change to TL already, will joining TCS in IT Analyst be a step down in my career? Suggestions please.
Has anyone who’s Asian been told “you need to develop soft skills” or “leadership skills” when asking for a promotion to be a people manager? If not, how about “you need to keep expanding your scope and we’ll see what happens”?
Just heard EY has pretty decent raise this year! Could someone from EY please share what’s the salary for manager 2 and 3 in NY office, core tax group? Potentially thinking about transferring… TIA!
Discovered major pay difference between myself and two new male hires with equal experience. Asked for a raise and was shot down due to Covid and essentially told they make more (were talking a 30k) bc they don’t have my “other responsibilities” aKa my two kids. I know my productivity is effected by parental responsibility but I don’t feel that alone justifies the difference. I know our billable output isn’t drastically different. Not sure what my next steps should be and welcome any advice.
Has anyone been put on a PIP and successfully gotten through it? Seeking advice & support on how to navigate this. Please no jokes or jabs.
Raise your hand if you've almost spilled coffee on yourself while purposely ignoring a beautiful girl in the hallway only so that she thinks that you have shit goin on in your life
Firm will sponsor my MBA, but is it worth going? Two years of lost earnings and no additional gain in promotion trajectory. I know an MBA can be a good two year vacation, but I’m not sure if there’s much more value besides that. 🐠 who did / didn’t take the MBA sponsorship, what was your rationale?
Any tips for not crying at work? I don’t get it, I don’t cry normally. In my personal life I usually skip crying and go into the how can I make this better mode. But at work asking for what I deserve or every single time I have quit a job I end up crying while discussing my reasons to move on. I gave notice and now many people want to discuss if there is anything they would make me stay. I tell them my reasons (promotion, salary) but I cry!
People in ad land with kids. How do you do it? The hours are so long, the pay is so poor, how do you raise a family? Is this one of those careers where you should remain childless?
How much did you make as an associate attorney out of law school and what year? I'm just curious for those of you that don't mind sharing.
How do you know when it’s time for a promotion? I feel like I’m more valuable to my company than they realize and I think if I left I could get a promotion given my experience and expertise.
Here's a real money post. Just got a 2K raise and pretended I was grateful. Fuckin' advertising.

When you deploy to Johannesburg only to get ejected by your own firm due to INTERNAL visa policies. Oh wait, that's just partners fighting over a proposal. Off to Botswana!
I'm too tired to cry.. how do u manage the overwhelming feeling of work will not get done before the big milestone.
Recently put in my 2 weeks. My manager (who I’ve butted heads with since starting this project 5 months ago) asked for the most thorough and comprehensive KT plan I’ve ever seen. Part of which is asking me what my plan is for actions/deliverables that are due through the next 60 days. She also made this request late in my notice period and is hounding me for it daily. Thoughts on how to push back professionally? As much as I hate it here I still don’t want to burn any bridges.
