Group identity should not take precedent over individual identity. By grouping people into these boxes based on skin color or otherwise, by nature you segregate them. Obviously we all belong to these groups but group identity now seems to be taking precedent over individual identity and it looks like it is not equality people like that want, it's power. If you are a proponent of having hiring quotas you de facto accept that group identity is more important than individual identity.
