I have my MHA and upon graduation I saw myself working for a large hospital/ healthcare org in a more administrative role. Ended up in consulting despite my desires and am regretting it almost 2 yrs later. Not sure where to start looking since I would take a pay cut with many admin roles or I don’t have enough experience yet for higher paying roles. Trying to determine if switching to industry is worth the pay cut or if anyone has any other suggestions of jobs to look towards, please lmk
I’m a manager making roughly $120K, but am interested in exploring different career paths. Most recently, Commercial Real Estate has struck me as an interest. I’m comfortable with the idea of taking a step back in my career (in terms of salary and role level) as long as it isn’t a hard reset (starting again from the very bottom). Any recommendations on how to pivot effectively without encountering severe financial setbacks?

Advisory intern in the analytics practice...I want to be a data scientist. Which firm has the best data science / advanced analytics practice?
How soon is too soon to be preparing for a lateral move? I did my 1L summer internship in a niche area of securities law, loved it, took courses on it. I decided I wanted to explore securities law a little more broadly and not to pigeonhole myself. The firm I’m at is great—doing sec lit—but has zero work in that niche area that I liked. I’m afraid that I am passing on a passion, and I don’t want to get too “old” for a firm to take me on if I have zero experience in a specialty area. Advice? Thx
For all the PA exit timing questions (senior/manager,etc) from my experience, I don't believe your PA level is most important. Leave for the right role with explicit managerial duties such as (cont)
I’ve been in my current role for 9 months but am actively interviewing for roles at a 50%+ pay increase. I just received a promotion and won’t know comp until 10/5 but know it’s nowhere close to the other positions. Is it wrong to leave so close to being promoted? Will I burn bridges?
Deloitte refugee. EY or KPMG next? PWC also has a huge overwork culture, so I’m not interested in them (or Guidehouse for that matter).
At EY , do you have to be there for a year before you can take the 16 weeks of parental leave or is it an immediate benefit?
PwC Was reached out for the “financial due diligence experienced associate” position. What experiences will be appreciated for this position? Had previous experiences in tax, financial projections, and investment research. Thank you!
Has anyone ever shit their pants at work or on the way to/from work? I’ll go first... Was on my way to my buddy’s place for post-work dranks when I got the sudden urge to poo. Stuck in rush hour traffic I started sweating. Fast food places were not allowing people inside (only drive thru during peak covid) so I drove around looking for bush to shit in. Found a house with no lights on and nice bushes out front and pulled over. (Cont’d in comments)
Do you guys prefer to take breaks while staffed on an active study or wait until the study closes and schedule vacation for a week or whatever term between studies?
Is anyone feeling the disrespect of students in a classroom? The attitude towards adults when a student is interacting with the said adult. Wow! The mother in me just wants to wash the child’s mouth out for such disrespect, BUT definitely NOT allowed in school. How have kids gotten this far w/o any reprimand for their behavior? What are we teaching them if we keep ignoring….
Any companies which refinance student loans for people without H1B but still in United States of CPT/OPT? Currently paying 9.5% to Discover which is ridiculous.

How many of you are fully remote? How reasonable is it to request remote work? I’d like to be with a family member in a different city for a few months, is this a reasonable request?
Venting Being an experienced hire and making 96k at 31 just feels like a joke. So hard to find any motivation or do anything above the bare minimum. Already have hefty savings and other income, so just wanted to vent a bit
My dad is a bit financially strict (borderline financially abusive) to my mom, so I want to set up a way to give her allowance money regularly on the DL. Would this be best done by setting up a credit card account for her? Or a separate checking account to which I deposit money every month? How would you do it? TIA!
So I’ve landed 2 interviews this week. Haven’t interviewed in quite some time. Not to mention I’m horrible at interviewing... what should I expect for this first round of interviews?
SEEKING OPINIONS & FEEDBACK: I love the honest & practical discussions here, where people can freely identify things that are going on & seek guidance. Wondering whether anybody’d be interested in some kind of more purposeful community- i.e., gathering w/fellow lawyers to pursue some specific mental health & well-being goals? We’d provide some counseling/coaching type content, in bite sized chunks, but have regular discussions to connect & encourage one another on applying the content IRL.
Work at a hold co and tired of hearing the ceo’s are in it with us and taking cuts? I call BS on that! They are only reducing salary and will still earn millions. Omnicom John Wren - $19,818,780 in 2019, his 2020 sacrifice = 5.05% reduction. IPG – Michael Roth $16,590,172 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice is undisclosed. WPP Mark Read £2,594,000 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice = 1.88% reduction. Publicis Arthur Sadoun €3,265,800 in 2019 his 2020 sacrifice = 4.6% reduction.
🐠 who exited to internal strategy teams of corporations: How is the WLB? Most teams I interview for tout that their teams are all ex consultants, from MBB etc, and i fear if consulting culture rub off
