I think I’ve mentioned this before… compare your salary for London with this… it’s freshers salary and don’t make mistake of converting to rupees… you will just fog up your mind. Practically, you won’t be able to save anything. Food, rent, living expenses… you need to calculate by yourself.
Then decide.
If I’ve to advise you, then ask for 60k atleast. 44 k is No NO.
Infy salary living in Bangalore. That’s how I see it
I would suggest you go there after sometime move to other company if you are free of any bond of tenure.
I think you should look at the long term goal you have for yourself. If your goal is to settle in UK or abroad at any point in time, then go ahead. If you want to have high salary, live with your family in India, you can stay here. Few things are better in UK like the quality of life in terms of air quality, free education in public schools and quality of education in these schools, NHS, accessibility to most of the European countries if you love to travel, etc. You can anyway up skill and switch jobs in UK as well. London and Edinburgh are the costliest in terms of real state and most of the money goes into rent. So since you are currently single so you can easily manage in a shared apartment in Birmingham. I believe you will be able to save few bucks at the end of the month, if you live in shared accommodation. Also there are many people from India community in Birmingham.
So my advise would be to work towards your long term goal.
PS: If you are planning to relocate, you can negotiate and ask for relocation expenses and hotel stay until you find a place.
That’s a decent amount. It is more than your 1 month salary in UK and should easily cover the relocation.
No , in Indian rupees term it translates to 42L which is less considering current inflation .
I too was getting similar ctc for uk but I denied as I got offer of 36 lpa in India (cctc :17)
A huge hike within India may not always work for various reasons like - job for skillset not available across a large variety of employers,
Duration in your current company etc.
But 44k may be a little difficult still if you are single
You could have shared accommodation- check prices on websites like spareroom.co.uk and figure out rent expenses
Check numbeo.com for cost of living comparison to be able to figure out if financially you will be able to manage everything basis your lifestyle expectations
Also, consider 2 things when making a decision
1. Are you looking for more money by moving overseas or
2. Is quality of life, traveling, new experiences are the factors that matter more than money
Another thing to remember, 19 lakh in I dis assuming you have no loans to pay or any dependents
You would have a lavish lifestyle - keeping a domestic help for cleaning cooking etc
You will be able to drive or take cabs across the city
You can afford to party every weekend and eat out very often at luxury dining setup
This in UK will not be as lavish given cost if living is much higher. At first it seems like these aren’t that big but, I have seen a lot if people struggle with all those issues because its just the way they are and it is best you learn about all that before you make a move
That will help you gain more patience when you face challenges
I lived in London at the very start of my career (6 years ago) in 35K. The expenses were manageable since I lived in Norbury in a shared apartment where rent was 600£
I could save about 500£ every month
I ate lunch at Pret 1 sandwich 3.25£ max
Bought the national Rail season Pass - 50£ monthly
I had come back to india for personal reasons but always wanted to go back
Reason I loved the experience - managed my own life, travelled a bit over the weekends
Enjoyed various cuisines
Loved the winters
I live to do my own stuff - cleaning, cooking and stuff as therapy so it doesn’t bother me
I wanted to enjoy the citizenship benefits
Dislike - I used to miss speaking with my family/ parents more often (manageable if you are willing to wake super early to stay in touch)
Getting a doctors appointment for a non serious illness is super difficult and you get treated with drink more water 😝
Do I still want to go back - yes I would love to experience the quality of life,
Speaking to strangers on the train and learning from their experiences with no expectations to keep in touch
Being candid and not fearing to be myself at work
Did not face any racial bias so don’t know how bad it could get
The only thing about this story is the rent figures are now outdated and would go up by more than 100%. As such, the whole economics of moving to UK don't make sense.
Also, the moment you cross 50k, your salary would fall in next 40% tax bracket.
Hope you're aware of other side deductions like council tax, National Insurance, Workplace pension, etc.which really lead to a miserable in-hand in the end.

44k generally in UK isn't that high, but depends if you are single and if you low exp
Thanks for the advice. I'm not married yet but was just asking for the near future. And whatever u told me sounds fine.
Go.
Salary isn't much as everyone here has already informed you. You will have to plan your finances thoroughly. But then you seem to be in the younger age bracket. You can take risks now, give it a year or so. You can always come back content with having had this experience. Not sure if you'd ever get an opportunity like this again. No guarantees in life. YOLO.
44,000 GBP for Birmingham is decent. You definitely won't have the most luxurious of lives, but if you are single or a couple, you can do decently with renting a 1BHK and living a moderate lifestyle and saving up for a rainy day. If you've got children, 44k won't get you anywhere with today's cost of living in the UK.
Thanks for the insight. I got similar feedbacks from other people too. I appreciate your help.
i would say don't go if your salary is less than 65k. i have faced a lot of struggle in my initial days. London is expensive.
U can always come back to India or move to other companies in UK itself. There is good demand in UK AND u will be having visa and skills to find new job
Hey Hi,
I saw your post, I am currently in UK and can guide you.
I have 3 years of total experience and I moved to Coventry UK this month at 48000 GBP salary.
See the truth is 40k + is a good salary outside London, and its not a starter salary. I did my. Masters from one of the top universities of UK and the starter salary or graduate salary in UK is 30k so with 3-4 years of experience if you are single and staying outside London 40k plus is a very good salary.
People here are just being negative, as they are just googling things and haven't seen the reality.
Reach out for any other questions, happy to help

And with 55K GBP pre tax making around 3500 per month take 1200 GBP max for a entire 1 or 2 bhk OUTSIDE London, say Coventry, and add 400 gbp for food and groceries max, 200 gbp for travel, 200 say for misx expense, still you have spent just 2000 GBP per month and saving 1500 GBP, ofcourse these figures i have taken are max values.
What position/level is the UK offer?
Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.
I'm not working in IT. So, please refrain from asking Tech and YOE.
@kpmg1 Are you also working in KPMG UK? Location?
@deloitte are you in audit and assurance?
Yes
I live in UK. In today's market, it doesn't make much sense. All my friends in India have jumped ships and are making 30-50Lpa with <10YOE. Once you come to UK, increasing your comp becomes extremely difficult as increments are single digits and the salary post taxes is not worth the effort you put in. You'll be surprised how promotion hikes are sometimes in single digits and compared to India, expenses are way way more.
Coz I'm making over 100k and my household income is 200k+, but tbh me and my partner are working in top tier consulting and it's more of an exception and not a norm here.
I still don't feel satisfied, not meeting my savings targets and believe me, I was making almost 70% savings in India with much premium lifestyle(car, own house, domestic help, etc.).
What you said about audit/taxes is true in India but UK is no different.
My suggestion would be to try moving to any other developed nation like US/Canada/UAE/Singapore, etc.
Yes, it is enough to live there. You need to have motivation why you need to go UK n consider this offer?
Birmingham is costly like london
