Hi New York! This year we are opening an office in the city – we’re a UK-based brand language agency (reedwords.com). We’re keen to find two people to get it up and running.
We need an experienced brand writer who can develop business and impress senior clients, and an experienced General Manager-type person to manage the running and marketing of the office, look after clients and develop new business.
Very grateful for any interest, intros or recommendations. Thank you!
Anyone subletting for now to Nov or Dec?

Come to NYC!! If you hate it or it wasn’t what you’d hoped, DC will always be there ( or any other city).
But you’re only young once. You want to come. Come. Come!!
“You only young once” is driving force behind my desire to try NYC. Thank you!

I also had that unrealized dream. I moved to NYC at 29 and it was the best decision I made. Yes - You will need to put in effort to find a place you can afford, make a new network of friends, establish a budget, and deal with new city transition changes etc…but you got 2 options you either chase your dream or give into fear and stay in your comfort zone. No wrong decision, it’s up to you.
Thank you for sharing!

I moved from Bethesda to NY at 27M in Jan. Had a few colleagues from the DMV that moved to NY. Then made about 5 close friends via soccer league and 4 from work. About 11 friends in the city that I can casually call and grab a beer.
Definitely hard to make friends as everyone is so busy.
Moved here from DC at 31 and have been here 6 years. Did not experience much of a cost differential, however I was happy to live in Brooklyn and settle for a longer commute, specifically 40 min and 1 hr (changed jobs so I’ve worked both downtown and in midtown, but have lived in Park Slope the whole time). I also avoided tourist traps and realized early on that it’s the drinks that get you, so I did cut back on the # of drinks I’d order out/at restaurants/bars.
The main improvement has been a huge increase in variety of events/things to do/places to explore and restaurants to go to. And the city has so much character. DC just started to seem too small and one-note for me. I will say though that EY-Parthenon’s social commentary above is very true. I would be in a very different place socially if I didn’t come here married and with a few close friends.
In terms of when it’s too late, I think that really varies for people but I am happy to share my personal experience. I moved here at 31 and it wasn’t too late for me; however, now that I value things like having a particular kind of apartment and even potentially buying something, it just isn’t making sense for us financially to stay here and we are actually considering moving back to DC because you get so much more for your money. I will miss it deeply if we do leave, though. I’ve lived in a lot of places and I also travel quite a bit and I think it’s true what they say, there is nothing like it.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Go for it. We regret the things we don’t do more than the things we do.
and when you do move, let’s be friends! I’m 27F too :)
Absolutely!!
I’m from nyc and trying to move to London. 30F it’s never too late for anything
You too! ❤️❤️
I’m worried I won’t be able to fit in/find friends, will have to sacrifice a lot in terms of living conditions (get a roommate), won’t be able to eat out/go out as much as in DC, etc. Please share your opinions. Thanks!
Nah stay in DC. Gotta keep these rents from continuing to rise.

Ok Google
I moved from DC to New York in January and NEVER looked back. Such a better city for socializing, networking, LIFE in your twenties and early thirties. I think I might move back to DC when I try to raise a family (26M).

I moved here from DC when I was 28. Don’t regret it. Dating is hard tho if you are single. I did have two relationships (each lasted about a year) but in general it’s very hard
Your decision to move should be based on how much you will get paid in NYC vs DMV
I think I’d be happy to make as much as I make now in the DMV, but I might be wrong. Will 140K get me far in NY or will I have to watch my spending?

You can move to NYC at any time just because there are so many people moving in and out of here at all times from all over the world so many people are up to make friends. It's not hard to make friends, we're all essentially the same inside. We just need bodies so that we can move around. 😹
