I’m currently taking 2 weeks off of my big law job (8 months in, in total been practicing 2 years) and seriously considering resigning when I return with nothing lined up. Just joined Infosys on Monday and got a call today for an opening in Unilever project. The person mentioned that I will be replacing another resources for now who is on medical leave and would be working on something that is a little below my skill level. Nowadays, most of the service based companies are toughening their interviews and even after we clear the company level interview, we are being challenged with both the internal project interviews and client interviews.
This is being a red tape against getting a fair work opportunity.
Why are the orgs moving towards such hard selection process nowadays ?
Why aren't they lenient towards providing an work environment, that offers the opportunity for gradual progression of the learning curve ?

if one doesn't like the work and Project in a company and feels he is under paid, how soon should he plan to switch. I mean is it normal for an employee to switch within 3 months. Should he switch or try to stay till atleast 6-8 months before planning to switch to get the best offer without hurting his resume.
