Background: 27 Afro Latino Male recently graduated from a State School with a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. After undergrad I worked at McKinsey for 2 years as an EA and was urged to get my graduate degree to pursue consulting. Now 1 year removed from graduation, I’m still having a hard time landing at a good firm. Would having orgs like PP and NAACP hurt me?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I struggle with a disability that affects my work life daily. I work in the beauty industry and in fashion reselling. Every single job I have been to has been nothing but cruel. I've experienced workplace bullying by managers and coworkers. I have always had to explain at the hiring process that I have a disability, only to have them not understand and be treated less than a human being. I worked at companies like the Hudsons Bay, Mac Cosmetics, Style Encore, and Platos Closet. I'm tired.

In case anyone needs to hear this: if a recruiter asks you what your current salary is and you don’t share it and they ask you why and tell you it’s so they have your best interests in mind, that’s certainly not the case. It’s usually the exact opposite - they want to cap your desired salary for that role by using your current salary as a reference point that works against you.

Just found out my abusive ex made partner this year. We were together almost 4 years until I had the courage and help of a therapist to leave him last year. We met through friends, work at different Big 4, and are similar in age so no weird power dynamics apply except for the huge salary gap when I was an associate and he a senior manager.
