You are absolutely going to see a range based on agency and media vertical. At the AD level, there should be the ability to lead a client engagement and supervise a few analysts.

In most cases the technical skills would be uber fluency in Excel and some of SQL, SAS, Tableau/Quik, Python, etc. Fluency in one type of media and working knowledge of another. A working knowledge of statistics and ability to do in depth analysis (solve unknown problems)

You will see some ADs who have come from client side or strategy roles (or even media roles) without the technical chops. It is what they make of the role and the team they are surrounded by - it can be good if they empower their team or it can be a disaster.

Amazon L7 or Google L6 - which position would have bigger scope of responsibility? Both PM roles

A former co-worker (not from W+K) who I know got let go because he was not effective or good at his job just got a new job as a VP of Design of a major corporation.
