I have my first case study presentation interview coming up in 2 weeks. I have never done this type of interview. I was told the case study details would be emailed to me 3 days before my interview date and I must create a PowerPoint presentation and email it the morning of my interview. I have a bunch of family visiting for 2 weeks in December. Is there a company that I can rent a bed & mattress from for a short period of time? I found some companies but they require 4 month minimum. I’d rather not put them on an air mattress for so long and don’t need a permanent bed bc I have 3 bedrooms and and office and this would be going on the office, hence the need for it to be a rental. For those who made the jump from biglaw to midlaw, how long did the recruiting process take? How do you get over the fear of becoming poor? My family has been poor for multiple generations. My parents are still poor and under a lot of debt. I make decent money now, but I’m rather cheap in my spending habits because it feels like this money can disappear one day. Is this feeling of insecurity normal, or am I hypersensitive? Seeking some advice for home buying. Went under contract on a new construction back in March, was originally supposed to be ready in August but has been delayed until November. I’ve began getting quotes for mortgage rates through lenders and the best I’ve seen so far is 5.75% (excellent credit, dp at 10%) at a 60 day lock. I want to create a data visualization portfolio, but I’m not sure where to begin. I work in urban planning and wanna do more urban analytics kind of stuff. Hello fellow UX-ers. I recently interviewed for a role and one of the interviewers on the panel asked me if I've done any projects other than for my current company. I work for a large consultancy and 1. I don't have time for freelance or pet projects 2. Even if I did them, I could seriously be in trouble with my current company. Has anyone experienced this kind of question before? What was your answer?

What are actionable items one should strive for when trying to grow as a designer after landing their first role? I hear a lot about ways to grow to land the first job but very little about how to improve after you know the basics.

Hey gang, lately I have been thinking if I got underpaid. Graduated from master school right after 2020 pandemic and started by 68K as UXD in digital sales company based in NYC. With 2 YOE the salary went up by 3% and 5% average promotion. Now it comes up to 75K w/ 6K bonus. What do you think of this? My manager honestly told me I was underpaid during 1-1 but since he was newly hired not long ago, he told me he has no solution at the moment. Thinking of starting a new position...

Difference between UI/UX designer, product designer, and visual designer in an agency?

Any program recommendations for building decks for clients? Indesign is obviously the best IMO, but I’ve found it difficult for clients who don’t have a design background and want to make changes in the future. I feel keynote is a nightmare...wondering if I’m alone in this sentiment lol. It’s so challenging to layer things/ mask photos/ build custom type paths etc. having trouble finding a good alternative and would appreciate any suggestions!!

I start my new job as a system designer next week. I love design systems but I have never been in a role where it’s the only thing I do.
I tried to talk to system designers on APD but didn’t have much luck. I would love to talk to a system designer and get a realistic idea of what that job entitles.
