Currently job searching in the south Florida market. Looking for something remote, but more than ok with hybrid as well, in a sales operations specialist role - currently a supervisor with my company and my newest direct report is making a larger salary than me and a promotion has been dangled in front of me for nearly 2 years now. American citizen here. I have never really considered bringing my parents to live here permanently due to health care costs. My parents are in their 70s willing to move here if I want. I need advice: I’m starting maternity leave in a week and I found out this week that I was promoted. While I was excited at first, now I’m feeling worried about coming back from leave and not being able to perform at the next level (promotion won’t actually be effective until halfway into my leave) because I’m sleep deprived and stressed trying to take care of a 4 month old, and making people question whether my promotion was deserved. What can I do to prepare and set myself up for success?

Should I change my job? Pro of current job: work life balance, benefit is okay, 5 months maternity leave. Con: low ball pay(would not match the market), not appreciated, team is okay. Both husband and I are consultants and our hours are so unpredictable. Nanny can come 8 hours a day. We are thinking 9-5 and then based on our day, one of us takes care of the baby for another two hours and do the bath/bed time around 7ish.

How hard do you push interns? An intern told me that a task took 4 solid hours, which seemed very high for the output provided. I checked the file version history, and there are a few 30-60 min breaks, and 80% of the task was obviously done in the hour before a check-in deadline. How, and how harshly should I push them on this discrepancy? Before you ask, this was a data transformation task that happens 100% in the same file, with no need to Google, use other files, ask for help, etc.
