Hello all! I’m in the interview process for a 1 year contract-to-hire role. I have one final interview next week, but I really have enjoyed meeting the company. Should they extend an offer, I would be glad to accept, but I would prefer the contract to hire term to be shortened.

When is a good time to negotiate that term? Once the offer is made? A few weeks in? And should I approach the company directly or the staffing agency?

I am interviewing for a new IT Manager position. I started putting out soft feelers and then hit the hunt harder. The problem: I have one offer and need to give an answer by next Wednesday. I have two other opportunities that are in final steps but probably won’t have offers by next Wednesday. Both of the other offers will be higher pay but clearly are uncertain for offers. I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Was laid off mid job search. Do I disclose it when HR screenings have already taken place? I was looking for a new position bc we were acquired and I didn’t like what I saw from new company. (Guess my instincts were right!) I have several round 2s coming up and didn’t know if I should bring up the fact that I’m not with the company or just answer questions as if still employed

So I'm interviewing, have had loose salary conversation (talked about band but not specifics), and approaching the official offer stage. It's become clear the role is something I'm very well qualified for, but their pay expectations for the role are much lower than mine. How do I ask if I could be considered for a higher level position in the team in a higher salary band instead?
