Hi Folks!!! I’m trying to get my parents to apply for their tourist visa. They have applied twice before and got denied (it’s been over two years since their application). Are there any tips on making sure their application is not rejected this time around? Also, does anyone know if US has started issuing tourist visas?

Did they mention grounds for rejection the last time around?

Nothing! We tried asking but all they said was we are not giving you the visa. We have updated the paperwork since then. At that time they were coming for my graduation. But now I and my brother who are in the US both work so we will be sending them a sponsorship letter showing funds to state that we will sponsor them. My brother also has a free card (I wonder if that hurts/ better the chances for my parents visa)

Which country and city is it? If it’s Delhi,India is known for rejecting visas. Try some other city.

There is just one embassy in Nepal, unfortunately.

You can try contacting your local congressman/woman and see if they can provide a supporting letter? I’m sure they can influence the process/decision in some capacity.

Nope, write a letter explaining the situation and then see what information they ask for! Her office will likely be able to send a letter to DHS.

apply as a family - my mom got denied but got approved when she applied with my dad and siblings. the rationale is less likely to overstay as an entire family

hmm, makes me think there may be some redflags that you probably want to remedy/look into? for example, make sure there’s strong ties to home country (parents’ employment, your siblings’ enrollment in school, family business at home etc.)

I’ve been in industry before. Bounced back to consulting after realizing that it’s challenging working in an environment that appreciates mediocrity and nepotism (but hey, nepotism is everywhere).
