Hi folks! Wanted to pick your brain about investment properties, in the greater Austin area. Is it better to invest in a SFH vs. townhome/condo, and is it better to have a 2 bed vs 3 bed from your experience? Austin market is on fire so trying to get my hands on anything available at this point, so figured I’d ask you fine folks. Any info helps!

I wouldn’t buy anything less than 3 beds. People want lots of room in Austin suburbs

SFH/build to rent homes are getting huge in real estate right now, so I would lean towards that. People want actual houses but can’t afford to buy so there’s huge demand

There’s basically no supply. Any existing builds getting a dozen offers or more. The new builds- some won’t go to investors and most others are out of lots to sell. Really rough right now.

Condos would be easier but I’d also say people want the space at this point.

The housing market is not going to crash simply because interest rates are rising. This will on temper demand, and slow the price appreciation of homes.
