Looking for some advise on making a career move. I've been in software and telecom sales most of my career, starting at a telco (14 yrs) and then a small independent consulting company (4 yrs). Focus as been in cybersecurity and workplace/IT Modernization (Collaboration Platforms, SD-WAN, etc).

I'd like to stay in sales leadership role, but I'm currious if the larger players (Microsft, Cisco, Salesforce, or a large consulting player) hire leaders from outside when not coming from a large firm.

I’m a first year associate and I hate it. I regret choosing biglaw so much. It’s not so much the hours even, but the content of what I do (HCPE) feels wrong to me, and the amount of time I spend working on non-billable projects just to be yelled at for not billing crazy numbers. I want to get out, but I don’t even know what my exit options would be this early on - I want to be done with private practice forever. Am I just stuck until I have more experience?

Hi fishbowlers, all my life, I’ve been terrible at negotiating my salary. I’d love some tips to help me negotiate from a position of strength. The company is growing rapidly. I’m in a PM role building custom homes. The projects I’m handling are fairly substantial, up to 20,000 square foot homes. I handle all the pre-construction and construction phases, handover and maintenance for the homes completed.

So I’m in a really odd situation. We have a very early stage hard tech startup (we have a patent on the design but no MVP or prototype yet, no users, no sales, no funding). A large company really needs our product and we “kind of luckily” had a meeting with them, and they want to give us money to build it so they can then buy our product. How would we structure this type of deal? Would they have exclusive rights to the product? Would they take equity? Is this type of situation common?

I’m a binge worker. Typically push for 2-3 months/6-7 days a week. Very long hours. Then take a 14-21 day vacation to travel and unplug. Very fortunate to have a supportive practice and firm. Just works for me and how I’m wired. This year has been brutal. I’m not built to turn off for a day or two, or after 5:00 pm. I put up a legit 3000 hour year in 2020 just because I had the work there in front of me. Tried smaller distanced trips, staycations, etc. How are other bingers coping?
