Hi girls,

I joined the current company when I was about 2 months pregnant and they were extremely welcoming.. My baby is now 2+ years and we are planning to have another baby soon. What are your views on opting for the maternity leaves 2nd time within 3.5 years of joining the company? Would it reflect badly on me? Btw, I'm a high perfomer at my company and have also had a promotion recently. I am feeling too guilty but baby no.2 is also a priority given the age factor and the fertility concerns

Don’t loose yourself in the guilt trip, but decide what’s your topmost priority. Ensure to prioritise considering all pros and cons and not just based on your dreams and goals. You will have answers.

Having a baby(no 1 or 2) will have impact on our career, which is inevitable. However, make the smart moves now, during mat leave and when you join back to safeguard your position. As you are a high performer it would speak volumes about your worth. They promoted you for the same reason. But don’t make it a reason for your guilt! We do all the hard work professionally to have a great personal life. So, choose your topmost priority and try to stay away from FOMO.

Thank you very much for your response.. I think I'll may be shorten my mat leave by 3 months so that I mantain the balance.. I do have a lot of support at home, so that won't be an issue..

Don't shorten it.. Use 6 months maternity leave..Your baby needs it. However, when you are back, make it worth. Be that top performer. Own critical areas and that will secure your job. Remove your guilt feeling be contributing something unique to your team.. May be something helpful for the other team members. Eg. Developing a tool that can be helpful and v reducing other people manual work..

I think it ok anyway you won't take leave immediately right you can plan and inform manager and HR later , i don't think you need feel guilty

For moms who have delivered before, I am terrified of the delivery. That day haunts me. I’m a first time pregnant mom, and my own mother lost her first child in child birth, so I’ve inherited a lot of trauma about child birth. How bad is it, really? How scary? Any words of encouragement and honestly telling me what to expect (don’t sugar coat) I would appreciate. I am so scared.

I feel like I'm aging at a rapid pace 😔😬🥴...I used to feel like I looked young for my age and now that I'm in my later 30's, I feel like everyday I look older and older. Worked in Dassault Systemes in 2020 Nov-2021 aug. With an exp of 6yrs. As it's a "product based" company, my family was happy..my father smile just made my day back then.

But things started to change. Again and again I raised my voice but it was taken down.

There's nothing like a product based org. No WLB, No WFH, the work load was very high and No Mental satisfaction.

I still have few of my friends working in DS saying the attrition is 37%

So, people who are thinking to join DS think twice

Looking for baby moon recommendations for early March. Obviously Covid is an issue, but hoping it’ll be better by then (at least this omicron wave may be over) somewhere warm, and not too far of a flight from DC area, tho if it’s affordable we are willing to fly. Trying to stay in the states since pregnant. Any reccs? I’ll be about 20 weeks pregnant. I know it’s early but it’s the only time we’ll be able to take before the baby comes.

Need to vent. I feel like giving 100% (let’s be honest, usually more than that) to work isn’t enough anymore. My projects get my undivided attention, but I’m too mentally exhausted to participate in all the workplace extras. The groups, the communities, the talks, the panels. The concern that it makes me look bad always lingers in the back of my mind, but as a working parent I don’t know how else to say it… I’m drained. I just want to do my job really well and then spend time with my family.

Off-topic Feeling a bit low and anxious today, I am 33 yrs old with history of miscarriage changed job to get some growth, stability and motivation
