How long it takes for an employee to reach from Assistant Director level to Director in EY

I have heard Assistant Director> Associate Director>Director is the hierarchy in EY GDS and each designation has 3 internal level like Assistant Director -L1, L2, L3

Does it mean from Assistant Director to Director -L1 level, employee will have to spend 6 years :O

By naming it seems assistant manager and deputy manager type analogy. What's the difference in both AD designations?

I’m seeking advise from fishers. My brother in law is going to university next year. He was engineering (which is one of the worse decisions someone can do from my experience LOOL). I told him if anything he should do managment engineering which he got accepted to. He also got accepted to Mcmaster- information management systems. Which in my opinion you get a bit of everything! And this degree is picking up a lot of traction’s across tech. More thoughts in the comments

From the outside, I always thought of PE firms to be well-oiled machines where everyone is working hard but with a clear purpose. Now starting at an LMM as a senior associate I feel kind of lost.
