Is it worth speaking to HR if you keep getting passed up for promotion for the past year and a half (will be 2 in October) even if all your feedback is amazing and explicitly mentions from multiple ppl that you're ready for the promotion? (Assuming you can't leave due to other circumstances)
Promotion came thru this week. For the first time, asked my driver to stop at the gas station so I can get a beer. His response “typically only men headed home to their wives request this, good week?"
If my director said I would be rated a 1 as a 2nd year, does that mean I should expect a promotion to senior come May? Not sure if you can be rated a 1 and not promoted.
Got the good news RE promotion. What a long-ass road. Mens Warehouse full price rack, here I come.
Would you take an internal promotion without a raise? What about an internal promotion with a small raise $3k > ? Has anyone ever declined an internal promotion or pushed back on raise?
Has anyone added meditation practices to their elementary classroom? I recently saw the the app Calm was doing a promotion where they let teachers join for free. Does anyone recommend?
Raise your hand if you miss the office 👋

Fish fam! looking to come up with a name for a company that I'm incorporating to raise a fund. Any good ideas? Trying to convey something strong, stable and impactful, like a mountain
I got a fat raise and promotion this year but that hasn’t cured my depression. Considering leaving and a paycut to just make it to next year alive.
What’s expected raise percentage in promotion year? My firm said 8-12. Is that low, high or normal?
Any recommendations on PNW / west coast cities to raise kids that offer a diverse community/population? Currently based in Denver so open to states around here and further west. Not having kids yet but this has always been something top of mind for me. Any experience/insight is appreciated :)
A friend at UBS just got a raise. Is it normal to get mid year raise like this at UBS? It came as a total surprise to this friend.
Does anyone else feel that itch or that in the heart feeling of wanting to go elsewhere and explore options, places and people?? Maybe I’m just feeling this because I’m in a very good job with a good boyfriend and a new home.... or maybe it’s the year long pandemic...but I have this nagging sense that I need to get out and live the wild. Try things and go places and explore art and culture. I’m terrified of living a regular, predictable life. Is it more crazy to go? Or more crazy to stay?
Is KPMG more adversely affected by the downturn? Friends at other big four don’t seem to have as many benefits cut or raises and bonuses eliminated. Are we not as fiscally sound or relevant in the market?
For a taxable account, is there any downside to using FZROX with a zero expense ratio versus a similar but more established low expense ratio ETF like VTI or SCHB?
Up for partnership this year @ a big 4, however I have an offer in hand that doubles my Director salary. Should I take the sure thing or risk going through a vote with a recession looming?

Hey fellow fish 🐠 Looking to make the jump from tech consulting to big tech and would appreciate insight as to what are common consulting exits in terms of roles/work/comp. Currently a senior at EY with a computer science degree and swe/data science experience. Thanks in advance!
I am beyond stuck in my first 1.5 years of my career. I was over promised opportunities at my first gig and then Covid hit. Leading me to have no portfolio worthy pieces from this 💩 agency with nothing great in sight. (place hasn’t won a pitch in my entire time here + lost clients) I’m juggling re-vamping my site and a side project to hopefully make my book more robust. With no kind of leadership or mentor, I’m just figuring out how to dig myself out of this hole. Any advice for this chump?
Hello fellow Freelancers! I’ve just quit my FT job as a senior accountant at a Big 4 accounting firm. My hope is to gain enough freelance work to continue working on my own and enjoy freedoms of being a freelancer. Please send me a message if you are looking for a freelance CPA!
4 months in at work. Have $12k in savings account that won’t be touched except for emergencies, and a couple K in checking for current expenses. 401k contributions are maxed. How should I be allocating future paychecks- everything invested in brokerage account?
How is the culture of AWS professional services? Is it stressful like Amazon in general? And do people leave early and frequently?
Moving to New York, making 120k. Looking at a $2800 a month apartment. On average, would you say this is a reasonable amount to pay for an apartment for my salary in NYC? It’s slightly under 30% of my gross monthly earnings. I’m moving from LA where I was paying $1600 a month for my apartment (😭). Just trying to get a feel for what’s typical out there!
