I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Do you give a recruiter from an agency a third chance? One flat out ghosted me last time and before that she canceled on me due to a conflict at the last minute. I know recruiters are busy and have a lot on their plate, but as job seekers who are also working, it’s a lot to stop our day for an interview. I haven’t had too much luck with recruiters referring me to jobs. I’d rather do that myself. What would be a polite way to decline a third chance?

Does your university affect your working life in any capacity? I’ve recently got on a grad scheme at a Tier 2 firm and I’ve noticed the cohort is largely Oxbridge/UCL/Imperial and so, as someone who went to a former poly, I was wondering whether your university can impact on your day-to-day, or even in the medium- and long-term? Has anyone here heard of or participated in the Newton Ventures Fundamental programme? Is it worthwhile? £2,030 seems fairly steep for a solely online delivered programme for only 10 weeks.

Anyone else finds it annoying when you’re forced to work with a director that no-one else wants to work with?
Socially you get along with them and would consider them as a friend. Still, professionally they're a nightmare, they lack in substantial experience in delivery, and their knowledge is outdated and not relevant to the programme.
