Hi guys, I am a technical architect with more than 13 yoe in infosys. This is posted from a friends profile as i am not able to access my account. My current CTC is 16.I have an offer from a start up for 36lpa. Given the current market craze, I am wondering what to ask ITC infotech during my upcoming HR discussion. Heard even though the offer is for bangalore location, ITC is allowing WFH. Please suggest. Thanks, Siddhartha

Definitely ask more than the startup.. but if startup is good is better to work in a startup than a mediocre organization like ITC infotech..

like

Thank you sir. But could you suggest a number.,if you have an idea how much is ITC paying for experienced folks with this much yoe.

What is the startup he has offer from? Look for which series round of funding they are in right now... if series C or more I would chose startup over ITC..

like

It is a bitcoin based startup and they are hiring aggressively. Not sure about the funding stage but seems to be doing well

Also what is the role I should be asking for? Please help

Depends on existing role.. designation..technology he is in etc..is he a principal consultant or senior consultant in infy ?

My friend is not a principal but a technical architect. He has overall 13.5 yoe and around 3 years as architect

36 would be difficult.. as far as I know even getting to 30 is difficult.. they would probably be somewhere around 25 .. unless they are very impressed ..but we never know .. if the role is important and attrition is high chances are there.. am not sure about bands in ITC infotech but ask HR what band and designation they would offer.. I know people worked as a solution Architect with more than 10 years exp and project manager.. so based on technical side or managerial side you can negotiate ..

Also i have multiple interviews lined up at different stages. So I think it is better not to hurry with ITC 😊

I would tell ITC about the offer for sure and see if they match. They may not, in which case, you take the startup offer, make your money and then look for something else (or stay put if you like it). But if you don't bring up the offer to HR, they have 0 incentive to raise your CTC IMO

True, sir. I agree with you

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Any advice for those really struggling with motivation and tiredness? I’m split across three modules and feel constantly tired and unproductive. With WFH I’ve got into a bad habit of taking naps during the day, and trying to cram the work in the evening, which is somewhat okay for getting through the day-to-day, but I feel like it will all come crashing down soon, plus it leaves no time to do anything I enjoy.

That feeling when a well meaning manager keeps ending meetings with “have a happy holiday, and enjoy some time off with your family,” and he is unaware that some of us (a) already celebrated Hanukkah (and don’t really celebrate anyway), (b) are alone and unhappy, (c) kind of have no reason to burn PTO for a non holiday when you’re alone, bored, and have nothing going on in yet another month of a terrible year. It’s like one more set of fingers on a chalk board listening to such pleasantries.
