Hi guys, I am kinda new to Sales and am wondering what it would take to become a top performer as an AE? I know this would depend a lot on the company and industry you are in but just wanna get some general tips from you guys. Thanks so much!

Super easy. I'm surprised no one has responded yet.

You literally only need to do one thing:
Sell more than anyone else on your team.

Bonus: Also have less churn than anyone else on your team.

I mean... you hit the nail on the head. That really is the fastest way to be the best.

Find a mentor. That way you don't have to learn things only after committing a mistake and you'd have access to insight that's usually gained by age/experience.

like

Agree with AE1, but to get there, you really have to be customer-focused. Win people over. That's the key.

like

AE2 is on it. It also helps to be genuinely interested in your clients/prospects, makes bonding and rapport as well as pain funneling easier.

like

Be memorable, and make a positive impression. Find your reason why and use it to connect with your customers.

like

Have a process in your daily routine that you stick to. If you tell a prospect you will follow with info, do it. Be diligent and consistent. Connect with other sales professionals who have been successful and find out what their process looked like.

Need some perspective. Have to pick between MBB entry-level and mid-level at T2 (OW,S&,Kearney, 6-12m to post-MBA level) Over the first 2 years, I’d make ~210k at MBB, versus ~320k at T2. In other words going to MBB will cost me ~110k in a 2-year horizon. I’d be at post-MBA level after that for both options. I’m interested in joining tech product mgmt (might need to do s&biz ops first to lateral). In the medium term. I also want to go to HBS/Stanford as a personal dream. What makes most sense?

As a student in the final year with professional experience in accounting, i think about dropping into software sales. I got an offer for 68k€ annually (Big4 ususally 55k€ offers). Especially as a young person, i wonder if learning opportunities are good in software sales. What do you think?

Which sales role would would YOU rather have? Be honest..

1. 200k working 30-35 hours a week
2. 275k working 40-45 hours a week
3. 400k working 55+ hours a week

Think of these as different roles and how many hours the job takes to be successful in it to make that amount in your W2. Working more will not make you more and working less gets your fired.

When will the older generations realize they’re losing this battle on remote work? People don’t stay 40 years at the same place anymore because it’s “safe”. People will just leave nowadays. And it’s exactly what people are doing. My company can’t hire ANYONE because we don’t offer a hybrid even. On the flip side, we’re losing people in masses at this point and can’t fill any of the roles because the owner (who works remotely) won’t allow it. But “no one wants to work”. Biggest lie of 2022.
