Hi guys! I just sent my application for a Project Coordinator position at Brooksource. It’s a remote position and the budgeted salary is $60,000-$70,000 and was posted an hour ago on LinkedIn.

Is there anyone that currently works at Brooksource that would be open to giving me a referral or at least giving me some advice on how to stand out? Thank you so much in advance!

In my opinion, a blind referral can make or break someone's reputation (most likely break). Nobody should be expected to vouch for your work ethic, let alone answer (inevitable) if you are reliable. The fact is, we don't know.
This can end someone's career quickly so you are better off asking someone who knows you and are willing to vouch for you.

Sorry if this comes off negative. A hand-up is much better than a hand-out.

Thank you for the heads up! I haven’t really heard the negative sides of referrals, just the positive so this is a new take. I thought to ask because I don’t know anyone who works at Brooksource. Usually with the referrals I ask for, I try to build that connection and allow the person referring me to get to know me a bit through meetings, phone calls, etc. You didn’t come off negative at all, I opened the door for any helpful advice!

Did you send your CoverLetter? You should be ok for a pc role. Also look on LinkedIn and see if you have anyone in common as well.

Sure no problem. Good luck 🍀

One key selling point, as they are trying to offer is the opportunity to work one day a week to use for things like training, acquiring certifications or building applications that you are interested in.

This sounds amazing. I don't get that at my current job. So, is this too good to be true? I would like your opinion on this.

Hi everyone, a question to the tech industry at large.

Why are people so hesitant to hire disabled candidates?

I am a visually impaired practitioner in South Africa, with 7 years of experience, and as soon as recruiters or business owners hear/read that I'm disabled, the conversation gets awkward and I never hear from them again.

Anyone made the transition from NYC to Austin?

I find myself asking why I am in NYC when everything is so damn expensive. Making good money, but limited on savings and quality of life due to the HCOL. Or recs for other cities for that matter.

I am not sure what to do. My company just had another round of massive layoffs. So far my job was spared. I do got a job offer from a different company but the salary is way lower than what I have now (20,000$ less). Should I choose for financially stability but with a lower salary, or take the risk, keep the higher salary, but have a high chance to loose it as the company isn’t doing great.
