Hi guys. My company requested prevailing wage determination from the department of labor in late January. I have not yet received the PWD from the DoL. I heard from a colleague that the maximum amount of time the DoL takes on PWD is 6 months/180 days. Is this true? Thanks!

Haha mine was applied on first week of January. Haven’t received any response. You are not alone, hang in there

This is definitely a long process, lol. I pray that we get our PWDs soon. 1 step in the right direction will give me so much strength.

Your colleague probably misunderstood. The PWD is valid for 180 days from issuance to complete recruitment, otherwise they need to request another one. DoL doesn't have any SLAs.

like

It can go for years lol. Hopefully not. You can check what month they are processing here: https://flag.dol.gov/processingtimes

Mine was requested on Jan. 19th, I received it yesterday.

Not sure about this "maximum" time but do some due diligence on the Dept of Labor website wrt timelines. For reference my PWD was filed in Feb and I just received the response back.

I recently joined a company as a software developer. When should I ask my employer to file prevailing wages to DOL.

Work with the HR + Immigration team, there is usually a process to follow, you can't just ask them to file for PWD straight away. That said, the entire process to get ready for I 140 (recruitment + pwd +perm) can and will take more than a year so plan accordingly.
