I work for a systems integrator selling professional services, my base is 110k and that is low because I have considerable less experience than the other AE’s. For companies like Workday, Salesforce, Oracle, it is not uncommon to have bases upwards of 150+. My mother has been in sales for years and is very seasoned, she was given 200k base offer at multiple places.
From what I’ve seen in offers lately, HW is around $130+$130 plus a few RSUs lately. Descent SaaS companies are around $150+150 plus a lot of RSUs.
Wide range across different companies. There are some Cisco, Dell, HPE, Oracle reps out there still crushing it selling hardware. The key is there are a lot more opportunities in the SaaS space to get a high paying job—let’s say $250k+ OTE with very high ceiling. Hundreds of enterprise SaaS companies, only a handful of Enterprise hardware companies. If your asking specific to laptops, Glassdoor indicates an AE at Lenovo makes about $160K base plus commission. This is ~100K less than an AE at SaaS company MongoDB. Software is where the money is.
^ software is where the margin is. Any physical product costs more to make. So SaaS pays better b/c cost to spin up a new license is almost nothing
