Consultant here, but interviewing with Apple. I'm curious if anyone can speak to the WLB and mobility within the company. I am on track to be promoted if I stay at my current firm, but expect Apple compensation will be significantly more. Right now I work 40-45 hours a week, with an occasional busy week of 50-55. Any insights on compensation, career development, and WLB would be appreciated. Very torn on the idea of leaving consulting.

Hey tech folks. I'm mentoring a software engineer graduate and wanted your opinion. I had him write out his 5 year goals to me and it's about finding his niche and specializing in 5 years. Would you say that's too early to think about specializing? My thoughts are to say it's OK if you find your passion and want to specialize, but it's also OK to generalize and pick up more skills and experience in different aspects of tech.
