Hi, I changed my job like 3 months ago, it was supposed to be a lead front end engineer position, but after and awful onboarding I’m just a regular dev in a project that is not yet live but requires a lot of refactor. It was supposed to be a project to get familiar with the company but at this point I don’t know what to do. Give them some time, talk with them about my situation or just look for another job. What do you think about it?

Keep working while looking for a different job. The expectations weren't aligned on both parties and that's ok.

If it pays the bill and you will want to keep going, that's ok too. Sometimes as a developer, you just gotta do what the team needs most even if it's not quite what you signed up for. It's a good opportunity to expand your domain knowledge, but it's understandable if that's not your cup of tea.

I would just leave and find something else that better suits your career goals. No need to waste your own time.

If it’s hampering your growth, I’d continuing looking for another position while in the current position. False job descriptions to lure talent is a real thing and can stunt your professional growth and negatively impact job satisfaction.

Start looking for another job. Be clear in your next interview that you’ll leave them if they don’t keep their word like your current company.
Good luck

Just clarify your role in the project and the company with your higher authority . It's good to clear all your thoughts in one go.

Is anyone hiring Sr Art Directors?

I’m a business analyst and I recently learned sql. I found it to be quite interesting. It’s making me want to transition into a more technical role, which is something I’ve always been interested in but never knew which area to focus on. I’m thinking of enrolling into a bootcamp or something similar and hopefully getting into more of data analyst roles. Any programs or boot camps you recommend? I was also considering a part time masters but not sure I can commit with how many hours I work.

Fellow Leads - what does your role generally comprise of? I find it can differ substantially in every company. My own, for example:

- Build yearly strategies/goals for the team (8)
- Performance management with bi-yearly reviews
- Holiday/timesheet approvals
- Bi-weekly 1:1s to help with career goals, general queries/issues and AOB
- Review and improve workflows/processes
- Lead by example when involved in project work (throughput/quality, keeping within budget, meeting deadlines etc.)

So after over 5 years with JPMorgan Chase they will terminate me due to not being able to pass the series exams to be licensed for Wealth management role. This is understandable and in fact lots of people get terminated for not passing the exams but I have to have some sort of back up plan. I will get 30 days of leave while I look for another job but I just moved into my place this year and have bills/rent to pay so it’s obviously stressful. Any ideas on where I can apply with $21+ an hour?

Currently focused on "Visual Analytics", but what is the best way to keep career trajectory moving upwards? Currently making $120k. Is there more room to grow in the Business Intelligence/Power BI/Tableau space? What sort of role would you consider a "ceiling" for an exit opp as a BI consultant? Anything where you can make $200k+?

Should I consider trying to make a change? I'd like to grow beyond dashboard building and start playing a more strategic role. Maybe move into product roles?

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. My main argument to choose blockchain is the easy entry with little experience and high salary, I plan on growing my skills during the bear market and get a job once the market recovers. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.

A year later, I am 6 months out of my degree and have 3 years of experience at this company. They gave me a 5% raise which puts me a $24 an hour. Is this fair considering I got my degree.
