That's the initial offer. Negotiate!
Just negotiate. The first offer is the worst offer. I’ve been able to negotiate up 20K from the base in similar situations.
Then just ask for it.
They can usually bump it 5-10% and expect a counter. Go for it!
I echo this, in my experience most offers have ~10% negotiating power before they start saying things like “we’d have to get executive level approval to exceed this” or “this is our best and final”
Ya, some places are like that. But it could mean either ppl leave too often or stay awhile. Good to ask around other bowls to see what it's like. I also would negotiate other benefits and severance as well as a higher salary. Like everyone said, that's the first offer. Be gracious and thank them but counter with what YOU believe is your worth and ask them how they can get there. If they really want you, they'll figure it out or give you a better offer. Ideally, you have another offer somewhere else you can negotiate and pressure them to raise it.

3-4 years is the average vesting period for a majority of companies. (Mine is three years).
Employers expect that a candidate will negotiate. Be tactful and graceful in your negotiation.
There is equity component too which is difficult to value at this time since, they are not public at this time.
That is important information you withheld lol
Another question - sorry never had to deal with this before - do they actually change the vesting period of the stocks if u negotiate?? The vesting period now is 4 years which i feel is too long. Not that I am thinking about quitting before I even join but it feels like the stocks has zero value at this time 🥵
4 years is standard vesting - you could negotiate some early unlocking of options based on performance, etc. but that generally is reserved for Director and above levels. as a PM I don't think this would be a starter but it never hurts to ask. just a caveat - stock based comp is always a gamble pre IPO- until you get a good look under the hood you just don't know what you don't know.
That’s a fantastic start to initiate your negotiation process, don’t forget that they are expecting you to look for something higher. I’d thank them for this “initial “ offer and then would highlight all my perks that make me aspire to that magic number I had in mind form the very first moment I entered to the interview process
