Hi, I had been laid off several weeks ago and because of eagerness to find a new job, I had sent out several apps to companies with positions I qualified for. However, I was screened out immediately due to my resume.

Because of this, I had revamped my resume to better showcase my qualifications after having colleagues review and provide feedback.

I wanted to see if it would be worth trying to apply to the same positions with a different email? Thank you for any advice!

I worked as a technical PM for a medium-sized adtech company in NYC in charge of 2 technical teams, and the business intelligence team.

On Thursday I was informed by the lead PO and HR that leadership had decided that the project management office was no longer necessary for the company and all three of us, the director and the two technical PMs, were being let go. None of us were given any notice.

They offered me 2 weeks of severance pay and I negotiated it to 3.

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

How do you not take a layoff due to RIF (involuntary reduction) personally? I was told it is not personal. All full time positions except 1 were let go. Contractors on the team still exist and so does the team. I can’t help but wonder whether performance was a factor and it makes me really sad even after a few months! Any examples of how laying off full time employees over contractors helps with cost cutting? Thanks!

Debating betwn staying on with current team after negotiating a 30% increase or accepting PT role, with this negotiated increase the hourly pay is $1 different. (Prior to this I was making nearly $11 less/hour from PT role) PT role was 20 hours/week and emailed ask if I’d be open to 30 which is more appealing. 7.5 YOE in current role, worried about losing seniority in economic climate and risk to layoffs in PT role but being a parent I have been seeking more time not working too. How hard has Accenture Toronto been affected by the 10% layoffs?

So I received a verbal offer from a company, that is outside of Big Tech. It’s an opportunity for me to finally be in the role of Talent Acquisition Manager, but the salary is lower than what I am currently making. To be transparent it’s $23k less and the bonus is 5% less. Are there any pros to staying at a company and getting laid off, vs. proactively looking for a new job and quitting before it happens?
