Should companies sell their old systems to employees once their useful life is over?

This is just an idea, Companies give quite high end systems to their employees for office work. My point is, if companies could have a provision to let employees keep/buy back their old systems after sensitive data is destroyed and without any warranty. It would be a good idea to reduce E-Waste and these systems are still capable for daily basic computing. What do you think?
