I always put my work experience first. Then education and relevant certifications. Skills are always last for me. I mean, it’s pretty much expected in your previous jobs that you have the skills needed to perform in those types of roles.
I’m in tech so this industry heavily values work experience above all. And while certifications + education help you stand out if you have them, I used to work with some folks who never even finished college or they have a very random degree.
Some folks don't even write down what year they graduated. I leave it at the bottom since I have 3 years of work experience and the jobs I seek all fall in the same industry/skill set.
Maybe it's a different industry?
I like doing my resume in this order and that has worked well for me.
“Summary/Skills” section listing keywords that recruiter & hiring manager will value. Review job description to figure out what skills/competencies they want.
“Education”. I list highest education obtained. I don’t list my associates, just my bachelors. I don’t list certifications unless it’s asked in job description or if it’s something hiring manager will value. I don’t include date of graduation since it’s been over 10 yrs.
“Work experience.” From most recent to oldest but only on relevant jobs.
