Have this family member download a blood oxygen app on their phone if you can’t get them one from a pharmacy. You can contact a teledoc with the results of that monitor; they can give you a decision on whether or not the hospital would be appropriate.
Thank you, I appreciate the information
If you’re young and fit then in most cases you just push through it at home. If you’re having breathing issues escalate it. If there is shortness of breath creeping in you’ll need to go to the doctor for a recommendation.
I took care of my bf when he had the virus, I turned out to be one of the asymptomatic people but he was quite unwell. After 2 weeks of fever, tiredness, loss of smell and taste (note - he didn’t have any cough) he went back to the doctor again with breathing issues and was given a special inhaler. He didn’t need to use it in the end, but ultimately you should stay out of hospital until you are really in a bad way and exhaust all options rather than going straight to hospitalisation.
I think we may have to, it’s just a little frightening. It really doesn’t feel as real until someone you love has it. Thank you for your advice and kind words.
My entire family including myself has it. None of us are hospitalized and probably will not need to be, but we have gotten a pulseox to monitor oxygen levels. 3 of us are asymptomatic for the most part, but my mom has had a high fever. We’re all quarantining ourselves in separate rooma

Oh my 😢
I think I had it in March. It was the sickest that I had ever been and I am rarely sick. I may get sick every 4 to 5 years. OP, this virus comes in waves. There was a first wave with terrible symptoms (I.e., severe sore throat which made it hard to swallow, burning feeling in the chest, felt like something was sitting on my chest, spacey feeling, weird feeling in my ears, and fatigue). I immediately went on a four day water/juice fast to knock out the extreme symptoms (e.g., burning feeling, chest tightness). The second wave hit me mostly with fatigue and this weird brain fog feeling that I had. Everything else took about a month and a half to go away. Good luck!!! The Rona is no joke!
Op, the water fast/juice fast slowed it down the most. I didn’t have any coughing. If I didn’t do the fast, I probably would’ve been way worst off. Day 1 I did a dry fast. Day 2 I did a water fast. Day 3 I did a juice fast. Day 4 I did a juice fast. I did an apple, kale, lime, and ginger juice. Don’t buy into the your young so it will be okay. The symptoms are still pretty serious and can send very healthy people in a whirlwind. For example, I run 3 miles easy, never been overweight, and was a world class athlete (I.e., used to run 6 miles a day) and it still felt like I was struggling with this after the water fast!

I don’t think the phone app is accurate. Please try and get an oximeter. I think that’s the most important indicator of if you need to get into the hospital. With coronavirus, oxygen is getting very low but for some reason people are not having shortness of breath. If the oximeter level gets below 92 % you should monitor frequently and as soon as it gets down to 90 it’s time to go to ER.
What helps in corona-
1. Drinking a lot of fluid. No cold fluid
2. drink as much as warm/hot liquids as possible
3. Drink as much as warm mixture of lemon ginger and honey
4. Try not to consume foods that cause mucus to thicken
5. Eat foods that help loosening up mucus
6. Humidifier to help to prevent mucus from thickening
7. Steam as much as you can. If available add Vick’s vapor rub/peppermint/camphor to the water. Basically anything mentholy.
8. If chest is is tight and you feel lot of mucus is building up, ask someone to perform percussion on back 2-3 times a day. Also taking guaifenesin (in mucinex and DayQuil severe) helps and steam after 30 minutes of taking it.
9. If difficulty breathing sleep on side or stomach.
10. Take a lot of vit c and zinc(zinc not too much). Garlic raw or capsules. Also since inflammation increases, take turmeric(curcumin) to help with that. No steroids as they usually are immunosuppressants.
11. Do some breathing exercises
12. Lots of rest
