What happened today at Accenture? I mean I got layed off but was totally expecting it. I was going to quit this coming Monday anyways. Leaving for 45% pay increase and two jumps in title so don’t worry about but this place was so unbelievably mismanaged it’s a joke. I feel bad for folks getting surprised today. I’m CFO&EV in west.
I saw other people post this, sorry to those surprised and laid off, it’s still doesn’t feel great. Does anybody know the amount of people?

The company can ask them to keep it confidential, but I’m not sure how enforceable it is - i.e. depending on where your friend is based, I don’t think there’s anything the company can do if they choose not to keep it confidential. As HR you can’t share that type of information about other people, but sharing it about yourself is different.

They can ask but doesn’t mean it will be done. No laws prohibiting it
Sure it's allowed. I wouldn't do it...I mean, what can they do? fire me?
they do not have severance any sort of benefits as they’re a contractor with the company. that was why I was a bit confused about their ask
It’s allowed
It's allowed, but weird. The person should definitely feel comfortable posting on LinkedIn if they're looking for a job, and it's more than fair to say they were laid off so that employers aren't wondering if the person was fired or quit suddenly. They can do it in a professional way that doesn't make it seem like their company is going down in flames if that's where they're worried about, but it's not like they signed an NDA.
To discuss your working conditions is a right under the NLRA. Enforced by the NLRB.
To keep what confidential, exactly? How would they be able to keep that a secret if people won't be seeing you around the office anymore? Seems weird to me.
They can ask for sure but there's not much they can do to enforce it. IMO it'd be more an internal thing that they would be able to disclose during an interview
Is the company doing that whole - we're telling you it's a layoff, but we're going to turn around and hire someone else thing? How are they even supposed to keep it confidential - like not updating LinkedIn? Seems fishy
They’ve been big on saying that the company is doing really well and will not be participating in layoffs im assuming they’re trying to save face
Yes this happened to me before. I basically had to agree to keep it confidential to get my severance pay. Its definitely allowed.
To keep it confidential, you mean the fact that they were laid off? Or the reason behind it?
Ohh. I see. But I don't think this is possible. The other employees will surely notice.
If they signed an agreement for separation pay I’d read that carefully. Also double check any employment agreements, if applicable. But otherwise, they can’t really control you from telling people you were fired or why.
But if you had a few days notice period and were causing distraction to the rest of team I’d end you immediately and I’ve done that in the past.
Hello. It is allowed especially if he signed the non-disclosure agreement already.
