Hi! I have three years of work experience in a combination of HR Operations and Management. I have a Bachelors in Psychology and an MBA in HR Management. How can I best shift gears to HRIS? I’ve been looking into Google certs for Data Analytics. Am I on the right track?

I think the Google certs are definitely a good place to start. I would also look at some of those job postings to see what skills are in the description - that can help you shift gears too

Great idea! Thank you for your feedback.

People Analytics is still a growing and emerging field, there’s not really a clear pathway into it. You’re on the right track if you can do the Google certification. Whilst you’re learning, see if there are any projects at your current workplace, Engagement Surveys are a great way to get started, optimise any clunky processes and get used to using any HR technologies/HRIS reporting capabilities and maybe even try build a Dashboard to answer questions about Headcount, Turnover/Attrition, Talent Acquisition etc. those are some great projects to be on and to have on your resume.

Definitely, also great to build those relationships. Have you voiced to anyone in your team about moving your career in this direction? Ask your Project Manager and HRIS Manager how they landed their jobs and how someone with your level of experience could get to where they are in the future. People love talking about themselves and sharing your intentions with them will you some insight at the very least, and best case scenario more HRIS project involvement/external opportunities.

Question : What are the best bootcamps recognised by employers in the field?

I am just making a career change from retail to software engineering. I want to progress as quickly as I can, so i have looked at bootcamps. 12 week course and they help you with your cvs and i presume put you in contact with recruiting companies? The one i am working with has already let me down several times with their communication on what's expected. Its a lot of money to put up, but want a structure to work to.
