Hi I have worked in the corporate event management field planning and operating large meetings and conferences for more than 15 years and am looking to change industries. Has anyone made this transition or have advice?

Looking for advice on types of roles I should be searching in financial services. I am an expert communicator, both written and verbal (many publications, and pre-consulting/fs career in public speaking), and a great salesperson. Want to be able to keep writing and attending conferences, as well as have a sales component. I don't enjoy working with back office banking robots. I can play the part short term, but have bristled on longer term engagements with human potatoes. 8YOE, Series, & CAIA

Hello friends. I’ve been in IB for a little over a year now and I’m looking to move to a role in real estate because I just find it more interesting. This is a pretty broad ask so all comments are appreciated - what kinds of roles are out there (PM? Acq? AM?). How is the work life balance (hrs/week). What is comp like? Any recommendations for firms in the broader multifamily space?

Dilemma… I left my old company 4 months ago. Today, they’ve reached out to me to ask me to come back at a higher role, Operations Manager. I would’ve jumped on this opportunity if they asked me before. However, this role would be hybrid (2x in office) and come along with more responsibilities and hours than my current WFH role which is very chill. The pay is only 15% more than I currently make. Any thoughts?

Started a new job last week and have not received much training other than HR videos on company policies. Been begging for some guidance from my new boss and coming up empty. Now he says he wants me to come up with my own 30, 60, 90 day goals for how I see my career progression going and that then he can review with me to help me achieve them…this is weird, right? I’d so much rather know what their expectations are for me? Also, any suggestions for goals would be much appreciated 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

What are some hard skills you’ve learned that have helped propel your career and earning potential?

Fresh out of school all I knew was print and static digital design. Over the years I had self taught myself UI/UX, video editing, and 2D motion design. Having these skills in my toolkit has allowed me to move ahead and more than double my salary in 3 short years.

I’ve been stagnating for a while now, but I’ve been eyeing learning Cinema 4D and getting into AR design as my next skill set.

Hi there! I’ve been in recruiting for agencies for the past 7 years. It has been volatile with furloughs and layoffs the past few years. I would love to transition into HR. How do you know it’s time to leave a job/pivot? (vs sticking it out). We’ve grown really quickly as a company so it’s definitely an adjustment.

Pros:
- Lots of people are great to work with
- Smart marketers
- Has been a huge career accelerator leadership wise
- Growing company and stable-ish industry
- Hopeful future

Cons
- More red tape, slower innovation
- More meetings/reporting than work
- Doesn’t feel like creativity is a value
- A few prominent people left recently
- Lots of burnout

Hello everyone! First-time poster here. I've been in a specific industry for 20 years and left a leadership position 1yr ago. I took a break for myself! I've been on the hunt for my new adventure (not in that industry). I am finding it hard! Majority of the time I don't hear back. When I do get interviews, I get "we decided not to fill this role," or I get to the final round and am not selected. I am looking for advice on my resume and cover letter. I want to get more hits on my applications.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I was told by a head hunter that my resume needs an executive summary. This is new for me since im used to objectives. I come from a purchasing/customer service background and graduating with my associates im drafting and design in a week. I don’t know how to tie those together. I probably need two resumes one for drafting and design and another for purchasing. Are they bulleted? When I google I am coming across different ways. Please help me.

Really tired of going to 3 hour second interviews and either get a response about we have chosen to move on with someone else but we encourage you to apply to other jobs. Meanwhile I have interviewed with 5 different positions at American Express had the last interview last Friday. What is going wrong. I’m literally wasting 3 hours at a time every second interview I have to sit through . At this point I have over 6 years experience in Customer Care/Technical support.
