Hi! As someone who at Amazon - I'd advise to not accept if it's a L4 position from my personal opinion. The HR Org just went through a new re-org which is the reason for this change. And are you sure that it's not an Associate Human Resource Partner? They recently changed their HR Assistants to Associate HR Partners (without the business in the title) so you have different responsibilities then an actual HRBP. I would verify the levels & what the job description is.

Yeah..I was promoted to a new position then a week into it they had another reorg that demoted my position down to hourly back to where i was originally. And their promotion process is pretty frustrating and makes it difficult to do so. If you can wait for another opportunity elsewhere I’d suggest that.

First…it depends on how badly you need a job. If you decide to accept. You know you’re going to feel slighted quickly. This will be a stepping stone. You can use it as that…keep looking. Second, if there is no urgency for this role…then I would pass because there is an endemic issue here. It should not get to the offer stage and this twist happens. This is not a process issue…this is a management issue. This gives you a preview of the caliber of the culture and philosophy.

Thanks! I’m willing to stay where I’m at and keep looking. I wholeheartedly agree. It baffles me that this bait and switch could happen. I was not aware companies operate like this.

Are you willing to walk away from the offer? Its already a lot of red flags for me

like

Agreed

Run. That looks like a race to the bottom.

like

Run! I can't imagine extending an offer to someone, then suddenly saying just kidding. I can only offer you less. Also, that process is way too long. The salary decrease is a red flag.

like

Hard no.

The red flags are flying. Run. You deserve better.

Thank you!

Get outta there fast. They're already doing all they can to lowball and underpay you, I doubt that would improve if you took the job.

like

Huge red flag. Run, don’t walk away and also know that if they’re doing this to you… how are they treating their current employees? Sounds like a toxic mess.

like

Agreed. This is how they’re acting in the interview process, when employer are typically on their best behaviour. Imagine what it will be like when they can let their guard down… and start applying for new roles. It’s a hot labour market and you can do better!

This is a solid example of their values and the way they work. For me, it doesn’t meet my bar and so it’s an easy no. As an HR person, it will become your job to deliver those kinds of messages with that kind of value system. Unless that’s your jam, I would politely explain this experience doesn’t align with the culture you are targeting and walk away.

Run! You’re getting a glimpse into a day in the life of working there.

Yikes. That does not seem like an organization you want to be working for. I'd decline and find something better

Absolutely not

Looking for a remote Human Resources or Recruiter position. I have 20 years of experience. Can anyone help. I was recently laid off due to downsizing.

Where are you located? I’m actually moving out of my role and looking for a Director of Recruiting to take on my position. We’re in Cincinnati, OH.

That’s a great big sign of a chaotic organization. Move on and find a better opportunity.

As long as you are comfortable with it - not in need of any reasonable job versus haven't worked for 2 years and anything will be an improvement - I would definitely tell them that this position no longer fits into your career plan. I have learned over my career that your experience of an organization during the hiring process has a close correlation to what your experience will be as an employee. Clearly you do not find this acceptable. Good luck!
