Do any of your companies planning for layoffs and you knew it as official/unofficial ?

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.

What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.

How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?

What is the deal with all the layoffs? I’m hearing there have been layoffs all across the board. I’m also hearing massive rehiring. Is any of that true?

OK gonna maybe open a can of worms here but I have to ask: it seems the sudden inflation we're seeing has taken the ins. ind. by surprise. The cost/expense projections done X yrs. ago for this and poss'y subsequent yrs. have been thrown off. Costs to repair/replace cars have shot up unexpectedly. Same for houses. Med costs have all gone up. Ins. cos. have relatively thin profit margins to begin with. There's talk of cost-cutting measures-- incl. layoffs. How realistic are these concerns?

Anyone dealt with age discrimination at work or thought they were fired because of it? I have a strong hunch I was let go because I'm older than most of the team and they're trying to get a "fresh perspective." To me it just sounds like they're firing anyone over 50.

I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Just signed an offer for msft and setting a tentative start date. The manager seems flexible between a 8/1-8/15 start date. I was targeting a 8/15 start date so I could two weeks off and recharge my mental health while keeping my insurance, but the recent slowdowns and news of (very minor) layoffs at msft and other companies like Google have me seconding guessing myself. I work as a staffing supervisor and in the beginning it was really rough and I’ve decided two months in that I was going to quit. I advise my current job that I was and they decided that they wanted me stay and they agreed to move me to a different department that was less stressful and more up my alley.
