What is your background, and what are you trying to do in tech?

Just DMd you!

Thanks!

I’d recommend getting experience at a smaller tech company first, given you’re so fresh out of college. It’ll set you up better experience wise when you try to apply to companies like Meta, LI, Google, Amazon etc

Thanks!

I graduated with a degree in Business in 2018. I’m planning to pursue a Masters in Engineering (likely will pair with MBA) and have been taking the required pre-reqs over the last year from community college.

Is there a big difference between MEng and MS degrees? Or about the same?

I started off looking in going into Mechanical Eng but now looking more into Civil & Environmental.

Is anyone here willing to provide insight about job prospects between the two fields?

Or any other advice?

Hey!

I really need your assistance please.

I have been working in market research, business consulting and strategies with over 4.5 years work ex currently.

I was fortunate to get a complete hands-on experience in the domain of market research and business analytics and have been handling end-end projects.

My next target is bigC consulting firm or international opportunity . I have two challenges:

1. If anyone can guide/help in CV.
2. How shall I prepare?

I really want to be in.

Hey y’all: Plaintiff’s PI lawyer from NC here. Been working at the same small firm for 5 years. Good results on cases sent from Partners, but really struggling to bring in any clients on my own. Lots of pressure to do this. Everything else at the firm is good — work-life balance, good hours, decent pay, great colleagues. Just not sure the “client development” is ever going to happen for me. Considering a DOJ job defending tort cases. Thoughts?

I am very torn and I need some help:
I currently work for a US consulting company (big4) and have an opportunity to go work for a European one (different company, big4). Normally that would be a no-brainier - go work in Europe, however the pay is more than half of what I make in the US (with some perks such as a company car, pension,..) and based on this, I have a dilemma…
Note: it’s normal for consulting salaries to be low in Europe, but the city I’ll be going is just as expensive as mine now..

I have a friend who graduated with a CS degree in '17. Since then he's sporadically looked for work in the field but not found any, and has worked as a supervisor. His coding skills have atrophied substantially.

I've been encouraging him to grind leetcode and apply for at least 10 jobs a day, I'm not sure how much hes really doing.

Is there any chance of him finding work? Would taking a bootcamp help him? At this point I'm considering advising him to move on.

I recently started my first post-college job as a software developer and have to make a decision pretty soon: front-end development or back-end development. I really like being closer to the user and the creativity as far as front-end. But I also reallly really enjoy math and logic and the more complex side to back-end. My dream would be to do full stack but thats not an option. Scared of getting pigeon holed. Any suggestions as to what to do / tips?
