Looking for career advice!
Im a new starter in FDD as a Senior, qualified and am sitting for CFA L2. I want to make sure I'm doing everything right to maximise my chances of landing a FO role in a PE/Fund or ER/M&A role at an BB/EB.
A few I've heard so far:
- Get infra deals exp
- Network aggressively
- Leave within 1 yr
JPMorgan Chase Morgan Stanley Goldman Sachs Citi Bank of America Barclays Credit Suisse RBC KKR Blackstone TPG Apollo Global Management, LLC Bain Capital Warburg Pincus

Please help me calm down. My manager has mentioned “a great raise” to expect in July. It finally reflected today and is < $1/hr. Under 3%.
During our last company wide chat they talked about retaining top talent. Now have a meeting with my manager in a day. I’m wondering how to best approach this discussion.
know I’m a top performer. I know if I quit they will be a sinking ship (the team is already drowning with work), and I carry a lot of the burden. Trying to stay professional. HELP!Gallagher

Why are you still there? Seriously, I'd have bounced months ago. You deserve better.
Of course; and thank u but I had to have some income coming in. I’m so broken down by this job that I am considering leaving anyway tho. I can’t take it anymore.
My advice is the same as others... time to move on. I was in a similar situation 8 years ago, made the switch from an agency to LM and never looked back. Better pay, better benefits, better culture, better career advancement opportunities. I'm fully remote (but they are flexible if you want to work in an office) and I truly enjoy working here. I can see myself retiring here.

I’ve worked so hard for so long and I am way ahead of my time there!! My boss wants to cut me at the knees every SINGLE TIME I try to advance!!! Any advice is appreciated
I say it’s time to go. I’m dealing with a similar situation at our small firm of all men and am looking for something better.
I think moving to the company side of things is the only way to be appreciated and move away from the agency typical boys club.
I recently found some not so great things about my company. We deal with the same thing in my branch. Unfortunately, it isn't very controlled or known about the mistreatment of women in general at my company as they still receive national awards for being a great place to work for women.
I wish you all the luck in whatever you decide but your talent and work ethic is worth more respect than what you are getting right now!
Ugh. I am sorry to hear this. I might start looking somewhere else.
Leave.
Sadly, I was in the same position a few months ago. I decided to leave and got a huge pay increase, sign on bonus, fully remote, better career trajectory.
If you’re going to make a move do it fast, as decision makers are starting to antsy about the economy.
Best of luck!
It sounds like you need to move on and become an actual broker. I’m a broker now but I’ve been in a position where I was making 30% with zero satisfaction so I left. Now I’m making over 100% in comp. Plus, you’re already licensed! Forget the boys club and level up.
I feel like everyone says this, but it sounds like you need to find a new company. Weird there are so many men as my company is mostly women.
Most insurance people I know in the office I work in are men. Sales - men. Possibly 1/5 are females. More females in servicing jobs though.
