Hi! I’m a Senior designer (8+years XP) with also a short experience (<2years) in Product management and Team Management.
I’m in a recruitment process for a Product manager position that seems very exciting to me, but the company didn’t give me their salary budget yet. My question is: do you think I can pretend to a senior-level salary given my profile, like I’d do if the position was Product designer? Or should I think of potentially having to downgrade from my current salary?
Thank you all!
Rule of thumb when switching jobs is to never accept a downgrade from your current salary. It seems like you’ve got quite a bit of experience in the field.
At the end of the day, you will be embodying a more senior role and your years of experience in that specific filed should not be a factor. If they offer you the job, it means you’re qualified. Ask for what you deserve.
Personally I would not accept the jobs unless youre given a 30% salary increase from your current role. Hope that helps and good luck!
Thank you, this is motivating and gives me confidence :)
