Hi. I’m interviewing for a dream job. Only issue is, it’s in New York and they need me to move. Is there a way for me to negotiate remote? Everyone at the company is remote right now due to COVID, even the supervisor I’m working under is based in LA. How do I land this job AND negotiate a remote-with-occasional-travel policy? For reference, I’m in Chicago.

Take the job as is. We dont know how long they'll be remote.

Indicate you are open to relocation depending on what the health and safety risks are, when that time comes. Things change quickly or stay the same long enough.

Take the job.

Well - this is a challenge. A large amount of people want remote work, and NYC is returning to in person. So a bulk of the market that i am seeing now demand in person presence.

If the company has decided in person is their direction, and that is not what you want to do and you are not willing to move - then maybe its a great opportunity but not your dream job.

I'd clear this up early. Why waste your time. Unless you think the interview process will help you sell them on a remote job? You can also ask them directly how they plan to manage endemic covid.

If it's that big a dream job. Do the interview and try and work at convincing them to make it a remote job.

Feeling underpaid for the work I’m producing and taking on. I recognize agencies notoriously under pay lower level employees, but I feel at this point I’m worth so much more. For context I have 2.5 years experience, in an AC role. To my knowledge we still aren’t passing out promotion and pay raises (ya know, COVID and all). Any advice? I’ve been producing on a project basis after moving on from art direction in hopes of making the switch. Scored some interviews for full time work but nothing yet. I’m wondering if age is a factor

I've been working late most nights this week. In the office all week despite the WFH policy. Partner has seen me all day. I'm heading out at 5pm to pick my kid up from daycare since my husband has been doing it for me all week. And the partner says we need to catch up before the weekend. Dude. I told you I had to leave at 5pm today. I had another $75 added to my daycare bill this month for being late at pick ups. Don't look annoyed that you didn't come talk to me. I can call you from the car.

Change of pace a bit. As a country we have no problem complaining about politicians but fall short when it comes to participating in the democratic process. The percentage of voting age individuals who cast votes in presidential elections is depressing:

1976: 53.55%
1980: 52.56%
1984: 53.27%
1988: 50.15%
1992: 55.24%
1996: 49%
2000: 51.21%
2004: 56.70%
2008: 58.23%
2012: 54.87%
2016: 55.67%

Midterms are even worse. I’m curious what do you think is the best way to increase vote turnout?
