My favorite non-fiction of the past few years: Why Buddhism is True (Wright), how to change your mind (pollan), suggestible you(Vance), behave (sapolsky), what is the Bible (rob bell) - these are helping me reconsider times when I feel stuck psychologically and how i (and society!) can be better. I loved Between the World and Me as well as The New Jim Crow - if you are interested in understanding the insidious nature of racism in America from amazing writers. For rewarding, beautiful writing on end of life and our healthcare system - being mortal (gawande) and when breath becomes air (kalanithi) And for fun but smart and engaging non fiction - anything chuck kloosterman but most of all “what if we’re wrong” and “I wear the black hat”

Michelle Obama’s book, Becoming, is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Lit or Liar’s Club by Mary Carr. It takes a bit to get used to her tone of writing, but I loved it.

Book recommendations threads! Include title with a brief summary: ‘The Philosopher and the Wolf’ by Mark Rowlands. A book about connections beyond humans. Not just with animals, but the world. For those of you who are in-house, how did you get comfortable with needing to be more of a generalist? I know some in-house roles, especially at large companies, are specialized. However, even then it just seems like you’re expected to know about so many different areas (with far less support than at a firm). I’m tired of billable hours, but I really love (& feel more comfortable) being a specialist.
