Hi, I'm new to the tech industry. I interviewed with TikTok for an "insights analyst" role and was told they are a title-less company. Is that true? I have about 7 YOE and "analyst" sounds like an entry level role. I don't want it to hurt my future opportunities. Also, what is the average compensation for these types of role? Want to make sure I'm not being lowballed. Appreciate any insight.

What sort of communist place ‘doesn’t have titles’. 🚩

likefunnysmart

Only titles belong to employees who have CCP membership.

Recently interviewed at TikTok and never heard about this title-less approach. Everyone had a title

What does the job description say? Analyst is broad and can vary YOE.

Sorry answer below.

The job description seems entry level (pulling data, putting together performance reports etc), but based on my conversation with the team, they are looking for someone to come in and help build and streamline their analytics work and provide strategic counsel, not just pulling data. HR also confirmed this is more of a senior role, not entry level, but I want to make sure they are giving me accurate info since the title and job description are somewhat different. This will also be the only analytics person in the department.

i’m sure the CEO has a title. 😬
maybe there are some current examples on a people search on linkedin ?

People often make up titles for themselves on LinkedIn that are not official job titles in their companies HR system. "Head of..." is usually an indicator of this.

It may have changed, but I interviewed at TikTok about 1.5 years ago and the titles in that org were pretty standard. That role had Senior in the official title too.

Might be inconsistent based on orgs, but maybe get more details on responsibilty, direct report expectations and comp to determine if its in line with your expectations.

Weird that Tiktok would consider themselves to be a title-less company. Did they explain why?

I believe the median salary for a insights analyst is around $80k, but I would double check this!

Could be that they just have a pipeline for an “insights analyst” and will adapt your role based on your seniority - what I mean with this is that you shouldn’t get too hooked up on the role description but rather talk directly with the hiring manager.

Also, you can call yourself something different on linkedin anyway.

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating?
