Hi! I’m new to the UK. I was wondering what the main differences are between dating culture here vs. America?

Biggest difference is the mix of cultures, I have dated people from England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Australia, India and China here and they’re all different.

I’ve seen this too! A lot more interracial couples. This is great!

Dating multiple people regularly at the same time is more taboo here (not first / second dates, but being on your fourth+ date with multiple people overlapping)

Yup - still good to discuss expectations after getting to know each other. Good luck! ;)

You don’t tip as much here

And as a result, the service leaves much to be desired

People are much less forward here (at least compared to NY).

New Yorker here 🗽 In NYC, it’s very normal for a man to approach a woman at a bar, lounge, party, etc. In London, it happens way less often, and usually only when the man has had a few drinks.

Would you say that dating is the same in NYC vs. Milwaukee vs. Baton Rouge? No right, so what’s up with this generalist question?

What I mean is that they’re comparing London to the US as a whole, as if dating doesn’t vary dramatically in the US as well.

My best friend is an immigrant. She has lived in the USA for ten years now and has a great career. However she says america is very lonely. Her fellow immigrant friends from different countries also say this. She says culture here is friendly but distant and ppl are too wrapped up in their home life and less so in their social life. She misses daily socializing that was a norm in her home country. I’ve lived here all my life so can’t judge but curious as to whether other immigrants here agree

Is it just me, or is the big 4 sales culture low energy? I get the RFP process is painful, having done it in other industries myself, but the way I've seen most people sell in these firms seems mediocre for the amount of support that gets thrown at these opportunities. Maybe it's the ex-finance consultant in me, but the approaches I've seen in my 5 year tenure so far have me thinking this isn't catering to my strengths and won't be the best move to stick it out to SM/PPMD.
