Work life balance??? Struggling to find that
Best trip I ever took in my life was a road trip through Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. HIGHLY recommend, particularly Uzbekistan (I might actually avoid Kazakhstan right now, if you're nervous about Russia). It's beautiful, well set up for tourists and super cheap. Go forth and have an amazing time!
Maybe start with South America, Colombia and Costa Rica are my favorites but can’t go wrong with the others. As for travel sites, Couchsurfing and Workaway are good. Also each country usually has their own version of delivery/transportation apps (i.e. Rappi for Colombia, Careem for Jordan), so check out travel threads for that. I’ve travelled solo twice before and had a good time. You will have a blast and keep us posted on your trip. This is something I am hoping to do someday.
I second that - get whatever the local apps are for rides/uber and public transit. I used 2Gis all over Central Asia for busses and it was great. It was actually mostly in Cyrillic but I just used it in tandem with Google maps and that worked great
How exciting! I definitely recommend south of Spain and Portugal, Prague, Budapest, and Amsterdam. There's plenty other places in Europe great for solo travel but these are just some of my favorites. Can't speak to other continents as I've never traveled solo there.
For group travel, I just booked a trip to Peru via EF Ultimate Break for July after reading great reviews. Will report back on my experience!
Thank you!
Not as popular as Europe but Seoul, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan. Amazing I mean amazing food and culture. If you do go to Japan make a day trip to Mount Fugi. Also, Ireland - the cliffs of moher are picturesque. Food in Ireland is not as great so you can do a weekend or half week trip.
Seoul and Tokyo are definitely on my itinerary!
Also, if you go to Mexico try day of the dead in Mexico City. They go all out. Another beautiful city is San Miguel De Allende.
I was in SMA last week. That pink parroquia with the live orchestra outside every night was the highlight.
I’m curious what your budget is. I would love to do the same for my thirtieth birthday. I need to start saving to make this a reality
I just did a year long solo trip for all of 2021 and spent about $48k. I spent a few months in Central America and the rest in Europe and I always stayed in nice places. Under $40k is definitely doable.

Add Palawan in the Philippines to your list if you want to see some of the best beaches in the world. People are very friendly and speak good English too.
